Eric Clarke President, Orion Advisor Services

From a regional investment wholesaler to chief operating officer and now president of an IT firm, Eric Clarke knows the investment advisory industry from nearly every perspective.

After working with several facets of the advisor industry, Eric identified a void in the fee-based advisor back-office servicing and portfolio management system area. Recognizing this challenge as an opportunity, Eric developed a business plan and received funding in 1999 to create the company that has evolved into Orion Advisor Services, LLC. Today, Omaha-based Orion is a portfolio accounting service bureau with more than $40billion in assets under administration serving over 200 advisory firms. Eric serves as the firm’s president and manages operations, IT and business strategy.

Orion provides the portfolio accounting customization, integration, and scale that its advisors demand and operates as an extension of staff to its advisors in an outsourced service bureau format. Eric’s executive-level leadership includes previous positions as president of Orbitex Data Services, an SEC registered transfer agent, and COO of CLS Investment Firm, an SEC registered investment advisor. As an industry recognized expert in outsourcing, Eric has written articles that have been published in Investment News, Boomer Market Advisor, The Journal of Financial Planning, and several other industry publications. Eric served on the 2008 TD Ameritrade Advisory Panel and currently serves on the Your Silver Bullet Operating Committee.

A native of Nebraska, Eric earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah.
